Overview

Italian-French-British TV film targeting the US audience, about the fashion icon Coco Chanel. The film begins with the fashion goddess (deftly played by Shirley MacLaine) in her twilight years, steeped in wealth and fame, still issuing game-changing designs and collections. From here the biopic looks backwards to the woman's upbringing in an orphanage, and traces her path to ubiquity as it winds through poverty, wars, doomed romances, and rather glamorous betrayals.

Reviews:

My life didn’t please me, so I created my own life. She’s so special!

Film used interleaved method to show the origin of the name coco and the history of Chanel brand, the birth of its perfume, logo and little black dress, and coco’s struggle and tragic love in life. She is very similar with Jane Austen, they all have their own mind, love career, loyal to love but unmarried.

When the old woman was wearing my favorite Chanel suit, with a cigarette, sitting on a white rotating staircase, she broke my heart. If about luxury, women have a dream, my dream has always been CHANEL COCO

My insight:
1, the woman’s body decided that they should wear what kind of clothes.
2, there is a fashion in the illusion of the book, a woman can wear gorgeous but can not rigid.
3, material is not important, the important is visual effects.
4, accessories, is a science, beautiful, is a kind of weapon.
5, fashion is a caterpillar, but also a butterfly
